Subaru has taken the wraps off the 5th generation WRX, scheduled to go on sale in America in early 2022. Highlights of the 2022 model include a new platform, a 2.4L Boxer engine, AWD, electric power steering, track-tuned suspension setup, and a new GT trim with electronically controlled dampers.
The Subaru Global Platform upon which the 2022 WRX is built, is claimed to deliver a substantial upgrade in ride and handling performance, thanks to increased chassis stiffness and low center of gravity. Overall torsional rigidity is up by 28% and suspension mounting point rigidity is up by 75%, the company said.
Styling has been subtly sharpened-up and is in line with the latest Subaru models.
