The tuning studio was able to increase the engine power of the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat SUV to 770 horsepower. This is 60 “horses” more than the standard version of the high-performance SUV.

Apparently, Dodge values its Hellcat engine a lot, as several models of the brand have been equipped with this 6.2-liter supercharged V8 over the past few years. In particular, it sits under the hood of the Challenger, Charger and the charged Durango SUV, one of the brand’s latest Hellcat-powered models. In the case of the latter, the engine power is 710 horsepower, but the tuner Livernois Motorsports decided that this was too little for such a car.

The tuning studio calibrated the engine and transmission of the powerful car, as a result of which they were able to get an additional 62 horsepower.

Now the engine can boast 770 “horses”. At the same time, the torque increased from the standard 812 to 850 Nm. This is a significant increase in both numbers, given that these numbers are achieved using RON 93 gasoline, and Livernois Motorsports says the high-performance Durango now develops 706 hp, with that power being delivered to the wheels.

The increase in power should make the SUV faster. The standard Durango SRT Hellcat can accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 289 km / h. Dodge had to redesign the engine internals to handle this amount of power using forged steel pistons, connecting rods and a crankshaft. There is also a lot of equipment that can be replaced to further increase productivity.

A new exhaust, high-flow fuel injectors, or a redesigned supercharger could squeeze even more power out of this monstrous engine. Other ateliers were able to accelerate the same engine to more than 1000 hp.

Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the powerful Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat will be released again in 2021. Officials from the American brand Dodge said that without the reorganization, the SRT sports division will not be able to continue its further work on more productive versions of the company’s future electric vehicles.
