Ford is preparing a cheap analogue of the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric crossover by 2023

Ford’s new all-electric compact SUV will be unveiled in 2022. The American brand already has prototypes for the junior Mustang Mach-E, the first fruit of a collaboration between the American brand and Volkswagen.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E will get a smaller and cheaper sibling next year. Ford is already working on prototypes for a new model that will be presented in 2022 and go on sale in 2023. The crossover is based on the Volkswagen MEB platform, with which it maintains a joint alliance since 2019.

The second model in the line of electric vehicles has already been seen in some spy photos. The novelty was noticed a few weeks ago, unloaded from a truck near the German headquarters in Cologne. The name meringue crossover has received avant-garde design, styling embodied in the new Ford Evos for the Chinese market.

At the front, slim LED headlights will prevail, while the front grille will be tucked away under the bezel. The new model will have its own image, although the more familiar silhouette with compact proportions will prevail from the side. Ford stylists also implement some of the traits inherited from its big brother, the Mustang Mach-E.

Various sources point to a minimalist dashboard occupied by a large horizontal screen, like the new meter-long Ford Evos for China. The model debuts on the next generation multimedia platform with Android operating system and Ford and Google hardware.

The brand keeps secrets around this model. But there is information that the crossover will be offered with rear-wheel drive versions and one electric motor, as well as two units and all-wheel drive. Batteries with different levels of capacity and autonomy are also provided. Ford may even be banking on a high-performance variant signed by Ford Performance.

Meanwhile, it became known how much the most expensive version of the Ford Maverick pickup truck costs.
