Honda officially unveils new Civic 2022

The debut of the new Honda Civic XI took place in November last year in the form of a prototype. Then the brand showed the future appearance of the model and published some characteristics of the novelty. In early April, the company published the first official images, declassifying the exterior and interior of the model. Now Honda has unveiled the car in full.

Honda has just unveiled the new 11th generation Civic Sedan. Packed with the latest technology such as digital instrument cluster, Bose sound system and redesigned exterior and interior, the new Civic will continue to be one of the best-selling cars.

Externally, the car is very similar to the prototype – the novelty has lost the glossy inserts and black housings of the rear-view mirrors, but at the same time the serial Civic has got fog lights. In addition, two-piece rims have taken the place of black rims.

According to magazine, the new Civic also has a wider rear track and wider LED taillights. And the “pointed” rear end looks sporty and contributes to increased aerodynamic efficiency. The company noted that all this contributes to the creation of a car that is not burdened by the weight of unnecessary design decisions, but at the same time looks sporty and modern. To showcase all of this, the Civic will be available in eight body colors, including three all-new ones: Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl and the exclusive Civic Morning Mist Blue Metallic.

The new interior, as you would expect, has more screens. Now you can find a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch infotainment screen already in the base. Not massive by industry standards, but definitely larger than the previous model’s screen. For those who want a little more, a 9-inch touchscreen is also available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technology come standard, and the Touring comes with wireless charging.

Unlike other modern cars, where all functions are controlled by a central touchscreen, the Civic has physical air conditioning controls as well as a volume control for the sound system, which, for the first time in a Civic, could be 12-speaker.

The new Civic will be available with two four-cylinder engines – a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated 158 hp. and a 1.5-liter turbocharged unit with 180 hp.

Almost all new cars, at least in Western markets, are equipped with a variety of safety features. In the case of the Civic, this is called the Honda Sensing suite of active safety technologies, and it has been enhanced with a new camera that provides a wider viewing angle than before. Together with improved software, the system can now see more and more quickly identify pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles.

The adaptive cruise control has also been improved. By keeping you in its lane, it will also steer more naturally.

The 2022 Civic sedan goes on sale this summer and production will take place at Honda’s plant in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. The hatchback, due in a few months, will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Greensburg, Indiana. Prices have yet to be announced.
