The Italian company Abarth, which specializes in the production of sports cars based on Fiat, decided to expand its sphere of interest and created a nice sports car based on the Alfa Romeo 4C.

This compact two-seater sports car has earned the title of one of the most successful racing cars. It was he who became the main source of inspiration for the Italians when creating the exclusive sports car Abarth 1000 SP.

The original Abarth 1000 SP was built under the supervision of Alfa Romeo engineer Mario Colucci. The car was introduced back in 1966. The sports car had a light weight and a 105-horsepower carburetor “four” with a working volume of one liter. The motor worked in conjunction with a five-speed manual gearbox. And the sports car itself also received a reliable suspension with stabilizers and telescopic shock absorber struts.

The compact 1000 SP could accelerate to 230 km / h – such dynamics helped him to successfully perform in various kinds of competitions, some of which are very prestigious.

The successor of this award-winning sports car with a rich sporting past is clearly not in the midst of the same career. But in events dedicated to vintage cars, the modern version of the Abarth 1000 SP will participate.

The successor to the original Abarth 1000 SP is no longer built on a tubular steel frame like the previous sports car. It is based on a carbon fiber monocoque with an aluminum front end, and the chassis of the new Abarth 1000 SP is borrowed from the Alfa Romeo 4C. The sports car is driven by a 240-horsepower 1.7-liter turbo engine.

Earlier AutoTimesNews said that the McLaren 720S supercar received a special livery in the colors of Gulf Oil. Now the road car looks like a Formula 1 racing car.
