List of Cars Most Likely to Get You a Citation for Reckless Driving? The Saturn L200 on It

According to Insurify, a company built to compare auto insurance quotes and identify any additional costs you might face, their database of models certain to attract attention from the authorities includes exactly one of the cars which might make the list above.

Their data analysts compiled a list of the models most likely to net you a ticket for reckless driving, and they looked at a stretch of time from 2010 to 2019. The idea that the Dodge Challenger would make this list is almost a given, but it comes well down the line of reckless potential.

So which car heads the list? The award goes to the always dangerous and edgy… Mazda MX-5 Miata. Other hoon vehicles high up on the Reckless List come in as expected such as the Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the favorite of the wild driver, Isuzu Rodeo. You read that right, and at first glance, it makes very little sense.

The Dodge Challenger, Florida Man’s first choice to steal or lead the cops on a merry chase through the Everglades, is very much expected to make this list. But how is it that the tepid and dullard Saturn L200 made the list? At 135hp, the L200 barely had enough horsepower to climb a gentle grade much less go fast enough to qualify as a Reckless Machine.

But according to the data science and research team at Insurify, their database of 1.9 million motorists includes disclosures from drivers of any prior reckless driving convictions before they can get an insurance quote. Those analysts then used that data to determine which car models are associated with the highest rate of reckless driving since 2010.

This list is indeed a revelation and flies in the face of all you hold to be true.

While at least one sports car, the Nissan 370Z, makes the list, it is a bit unsettling that Z owners come in on the top 25 for both speeding and hit-and-run violations. These might be dangerous and amoral people, so watch out.

And to some of the Isuzu Rodeo drivers out there: stop your maddening insistence on driving to crash into everyone and any hapless tree in your way.

At any rate, here’s the full top ten in order of lunacy: the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the Isuzu Rodeo, the Nissan 370Z, the Cadillac ATS, the Volkswagen Comfort Coupe, the Dodge Ram 1500, the Chevrolet K1500 pickup, the Saturn L200 and last but not least, the Florida Man Dodge Challenger.
