Mazda CX-5 of the new generation showed the evolution of Kodo design on the render

The current crossover rolled off the assembly line in 2016. So the appearance of the new generation Mazda CX-5 is objectively overdue. We have already seen the next cross on spy photos, but now a render of the future novelty has hit the Web.

Earlier this month, a camouflaged Mazda crossover prototype was spotted up close in southern California. Auto experts agreed that the Japanese are testing a new generation CX-5. Spain’s Motor designers took these spy shots as the basis for their render of the Mazda CX-5.

The exterior of the SUV is the third evolution of the Kodo design language, which follows the start of the smaller CX-30. The cross received a wider grille without a contrasting lining with a small pattern, thin optics, new bumpers, etc. It is noteworthy that the rear quarter of the glass has become larger than before, so critics have less reason to criticize the crossover.

The CX-5 is expected to get the rear-wheel drive platform that the Mazda6 uses. The engine range of new items will include in-line six-cylinder gasoline engines, which are being worked on by Japanese minders.

It is possible that with the change of generation, the crossover will acquire a different name: the next CX-5 may be called the CX-50.

However, this information has not yet received official confirmation. The debut of the new crossover, judging by the “disappearing” disguise of the test prototype, can be organized before the end of the year.

Earlier, AutoTimesNews said that the Geneva Motor Show will take place in 2022. It was decided to hold the motor show in February next year.
