MINI Cooper SE gets a roof top tent for suburban recreation


British brand MINI is gearing up for the summer holidays of its customers. Especially for travelers, he released a useful accessory – a rooftop tent for the Cooper SE.

Summer is just around the corner and MINI is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts. Especially for them, the British brand has released a rooftop tent that can be strapped to the Cooper SE electric hatchback or the Cooper SE Countryman ALL4 plug-in hybrid crossover.

The roof awning is installed on the roof rails available for two vehicles. They can be supplemented with a suitable mounting system from the MINI catalog. It can be easily deployed from the moment the safety latches on the body are released until the structure is lifted on its own using gas springs.

A fold-out aluminum ladder provides access to the interior, where travelers will find berths for two. There are mosquito nests on the windows, and in the summer they can be rolled up for better ventilation.

Regular camping gear can be stored in the luggage compartment, which can expand from 211 to 731 liters when the rear seats are folded down in the Cooper SE, and from 405 to 1275 liters in the Countryman PHEV version.

MINI claims the rooftop tent does not affect aerodynamics. It is driven by a 184 hp electric motor. even with a rooftop tent, the model can accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds. The model has a cruising range of 203-234 km according to the WLTP test cycle. Its brother is a 220 hp crossover. can travel up to 59 km on electricity alone.
