Mitsubishi is preparing to debut a new electrified crossover Airtrek

The premiere display of the new electrified crossover Mitsubishi Airtrek is scheduled for the international motor show in Chongqing. A large-scale exhibition of new products will open on June 12.

The Mitsubishi Airtrek name previously referred to the first generation Outlander crossover for the brand’s native car market. These foreign cars were produced from 2001 to 2008. But then the Airtrek name passed to another model of the brand – a crossover with an electric motor.

Photos of the prototype version of the Mitsubishi Airtrek model were published by the Chinese representative office of GAC Mitsubishi Motors. This company intends to release a Japanese novelty. At the same time, the GAC concern started assembling Mitsubishi cars 3 years ago. We are talking about rechargeable hybrid cars and electric vehicles under the Eupheme name.

New Japanese electric car Airtrek will receive logos with three diamonds. In this case, the model will be a reimagined Aion V SUV from the Chinese manufacturer GAC, which debuted a year ago. In Japan, the crossover is positioned as an expensive and technological model. In terms of dimensions, it repeats the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

From the photographs, we can say that the Mitsubishi Airtrek prototype under a layer of camouflage will stand out from its counterpart from China with rethought bumpers and lighting equipment. It is possible that changes will also occur in the cabin. Electrical engineering will not change: Airtrek will acquire the former single electric motor with a range of 600 km on the NEDC cycle.

Airtrek’s electrified SUV will premiere in Chongqing on June 12.
