The 2022 Ford Maverick and F-150 Lighting were unveiled at the ongoing Chicago Auto Show, giving potential customers their first chance to test the pickups live.
The F-150 Lighting is arguably the most important of Ford’s two SUVs, as it is the brand’s first all-electric pickup truck to be well received with over 100,000 orders in the two months since its online launch. The main reason the F-150 Lighting has received such a positive response is that prices start at a reasonable $ 39,974.
Depending on the specification, the Ford F-150 Lightning can produce up to 563 hp. and 1,050 Nm of torque from a pair of electric motors with an available extended-range battery pack. A smaller battery is also offered with a maximum output of 426 hp. and 1050 Nm.
As for the Maverick, this is Ford’s most affordable pickup model with a starting price of just $ 19,995. The entry-level Maverick is powered by a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain with a 162 hp Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine. and 210 Nm and an electric motor with 126 hp. and 235 Nm. The combined power is 191 hp and is transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT transmission.
The Ford Maverick can also be ordered with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder producing 250 hp. and 376 Nm of torque. This variant works in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive as standard, but can be complemented by all-wheel drive.
