The deal between Samsung and Tesla is $ 436 million
The South Korean company Samsung Electro – Mechanics has agreed with Tesla to supply cameras for the promising Cybertruck pickup truck, kedglobal.com reports.
According to known data, the parties concluded a deal for $ 436 million. Local mass media are confident that rear-view and all-round view cameras will be designed primarily for the upcoming Cybertruck pickup, but the fact is not excluded that Samsung Electro-Mechanics can supply them for the entire model line of the manufacturer.
For the South Korean corporation, this cooperation will help level the stagnation in the mobile phone market, which is hitting the company very hard. Recently, the production of chambers and ceramic capacitors has gone neither shaky nor shaky. Now, new infusions can push Samsung to more active cooperation in the automotive sector.
The camera components will be manufactured from the second half of this year at the company’s factory in China in Tianjin.
For Tesla Cybertruck, deliveries for such amounts are very important, because the pickup is equipped with a whole heap of cameras. As planned, the driver should have an all-round view, for which 8 cameras will be used. But the feature of the car will be an additional camera under the front bumper of the car, which is very useful off-road.
Recall that the model should enter the market by the end of 2021. So far, it will be produced in small batches at the Giga Texas plant. Full production is scheduled to begin next year.
