The premiere of the new crossover Kia Sportage will take place in June 2021

According to insiders, the presentation of the new Kia Sportage crossover could finally take place in June. At the same time, acceptance of pre-orders for a new product will be open.

While the previous rumor that the new Kia Sportage will be unveiled in April this year in a version for the US market was definitely not true, a new report revealed that a global debut of the new product will take place soon.

According to overseas publication TheKoreanCarBlog, citing sources from South Korea, the next-generation compact crossover should go into series production by the end of June. More importantly, according to the report, we will see official images and most likely important details about the car by the first weeks of June. By then, pre-orders will also begin, but this is more likely for the Korean market.

As with previous rumors, it is worth treating this news with a grain of salt, since nothing has been officially confirmed at the moment.

We have already seen several spy shots of the new Sportage prototypes in various conditions, which lead us to believe that the crossover will soon lose its black and white camouflage. For now, the new Sportage is expected to have an unusual styling and is likely to receive an updated Kia badge, just like the Forte compact sedan unveiled last month.

Other details about the compact crossover are scarce at the moment, but you can take a look at the new Hyundai Tucson, which is the closest relative of the Kia Sportage. Design similarities are to be expected, but the same engines are more likely to be used together.

With that said, you can expect the next Sportage to have a variety of engine options, which will include petrol, diesel and electrified systems. Availability will of course vary by market, but front-wheel and all-wheel drive options will certainly be present in most countries.

Not so long ago, Automotive News wrote that KIA is bringing a new KIA KY minivan to the Indian market. Kia announced that it will enter a new market segment in India early next year. The 7-seater model from the Korean brand will be an all-new MPV, internally codenamed KY.
