Unofficial renders of the “charged” hatchback Honda Civic Type R presented

Honda has announced the appearance of the Honda Civic Type R hot hatch in 2022. The independent designer decided not to wait for the official debut of the novelty and presented his own visualization.

Honda first introduced us to the next-generation Civic Type R last week when it unveiled the 2022 Civic Hatchback. The five-door variant of the iconic hatchback became the basis for the Type R version back in 1997, and Honda is unlikely to change its approach now.

The declassified hatchback allowed KDesign AG to create two renders showing what the next generation Civic Type R might look like. Images show Honda with the usual Type R upgrades. We see the same aggressive front bumper found on the current car, which sits beneath the red Honda badge and the Type R logo on the narrow grille. The same goes for the rear: a striking bumper and triple tailpipes. A massive spoiler lip and side sills with red accents complete the look.

However, spy shots of the disguised Type R showed that the model could receive more subtle exterior upgrades. Details will become known only next year at the official presentation, where the Civic Hybrid will also be presented.

Little is known about the upcoming Type R today. It is expected that the hot hatch will receive only manual transmission and front-wheel drive.

The Civic hatchback can be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a recoil slightly higher than the current 306 horsepower. The car on the renders looks more sporty due to the red decor and specific external accessories. For example, an aggressive pair of bumpers and a striking fender can change the Civic’s design from classic and modest to sporty and bold with surprising ease.
