Updated Mercedes-AMG GT basic liftback officially unveiled

In Europe, it will be possible to purchase an updated initial liftback at the end of this summer.

The base Mercedes-AMG GT has been updated, and the automaker itself even coined a special term “Lifestyle update” for such an upgrade. Externally, the novelty is no different from its predecessor, the interior has also changed minimally: from the new – only a steering wheel of a different shape with touchpads.

Even last summer, the AMG GT was equipped with the advanced MBUX multimedia with touchscreen and improved cruise control. The base liftback got a new palette of body colors, other debugging materials and a whole set of wheels to choose from. The model also received a special styling package with a dominant black tint and a V8 Styling Package.

In this version, the basic six-cylinder liftbacks began to resemble more expensive cars with V8 engines. The engine range of the novelty has remained the same. The initial version is equipped with a 367-horsepower three-liter inline engine, and the older GT 53 modifications such a power plant already produces 435 horsepower.

In both cases, in addition to the motor, there is a 48-volt starter-generator with 22 hp. The AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic transmission is used as a transmission.

The basic “Mercedes” GT 43 can be rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, but the more powerful version – only with four-wheel drive. The chassis was also modified, which got new shock absorbers and so on. Europeans will be able to purchase the updated liftback in August this year. Then there will be versions with V8 engines and a hybrid power plant.
